Torellian Detonation

Named after the founder of arcane magic as we know it, J'kov Torelae, a Torellian detonation is what occurs when arcane installations suffer significant enough damage. This compromised stability results in an outpouring of arcane energy, which destabilizes the augment further, which releases more energy, continuing the cycle in an explosive chain reaction, a process that takes roughly 5-10 seconds from the triggering event.

The explosion itself is deadly not just to the arcane wizard, but often to those within close proximity of them. The size and scale of the explosion, unsurprisingly, depends on how infused with arcane energy the user's augments are, but all share a few common characteristics.

Firstly, the colour. It mirrors that of the patterns across Denshar - a mix of purples, greens, and blues. A beautiful aurora-like display of hues, despite its grim origin. Secondly, the lead-up. Every Torellian detonation is signified by a florescent outpouring of the aforementioned colours from the user's augments, and should be treated as everyone's warning sign to make as much distance as possible. And finally, the lingering sound. Though the explosion itself sounds like any other, there is a low hum that remains in the aftermath for minutes, sometimes hours following, as though the surroundings were a string that continued to vibrate long after being struck.

For most, the visuals are disorienting, and the lingering hum causes headaches, nausea, and other similar discomfort. All the more reason to avoid this phenomena if possible.
