Skyline

The Sevess skyline is very different from our own. The ground rises up on either side to form the ring world that is Sevess, its distant geography on display for all its inhabitants. Beyond that, the night sky is a black expanse, with no stars in sight, punctuated only by The Novem, The Watcher, and Denshar.

Sevess' Geography

The ring itself is broken up into four equal quadrants, with visible rifts between each one, connected by large land bridges. These are called the four quarters, and Khoven, the location of the current campaign, is located in the First Quarter. From there, following the rotation of the eye will lead you to the Second, Third, and Fourth Quarter in succession. Lining both edges of Sevess are massive mountain ranges, and between them lies land and ocean in roughly equal quantities.

The Novem

The Denshar system's nine other ring worlds are referred to by Sevess' inhabitants as The Novem - nine star-like lights in the sky which orbit around Denshar. Various faiths look to one or more of these lights with reverence or prayer, and sometimes, those lucky (or unlucky) enough receive answers from otherworldly powers...

The Watcher

The Watcher, also known as the Dragon's Rest and The Eye, sits directly above everyone in Sevess, in the centre of the ring. Its appearance is best describes as our moon and sun as they appear in the sky, each bisected in half and one half from each stuck together. One side glows brightly, while the other is a restful grey, dotted with mountains and valleys that give its surface a textured look from afar.

Two of its namesakes are on account of its appearance and function within Sevess - a spotlight that turns its gaze slowly around the ring, creating the day/night cycle. The Dragon's Rest moniker, however, is on account of it being home to the bulk of Sevess' dragon population. Dragon watching is a common hobby for those with telescopes or particularly keen eyes, as the great scaled beasts can often be seen making their way from their rest to the surface of Sevess.

Denshar

Finally, Denshar, the centre of this solar system, sometimes called The Source amongst scholars. A mass of purples, blues, and greens, roughly the size of our sun, it looks not too dissimilar to a condensed sphere made up of our aurora borealis. Wispy tendrils of this colouring extends from Denshar to The Watcher, leading scholars to believe it to be the ultimate source of Sevess' light and life - hence the scholarly moniker, The Source.

For Players:

Though I'll refer to Denshar as a dyson sphere, the reality to the inhabitants is nearly entirely surface level. They have no concept of the star inside. The vast majority aren't even aware of The Novem being ring worlds. Unless your character is a particularly learned scholar, all this information is for the purpose of scene setting and painting a picture, rather than assumed common knowledge amongst the populace.
